A win! A small but palpable win!

Posted by Dave Bath on 2008-05-30

It’s good to see change in what comes out of a government agency after you’ve made a suggestion.

Regular readers will know about the useless RSS items in media releases from Kim Carr (Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research), and that I gave his agency a raspberrysome feedback.  Today, I noticed a change for the better.  Details below the fold.

The old media releases were all the same apart from the date:

  • Headline: Minister – Innovation, Industry, Science and Research
  • Teaser Body: What’s New EMAIL UPDATES SITE INDEX FEEDBACK IISR Minister Senator the Hon Kim Carr Print this page Email this page Media Release Senator the Hon Kim Carr DD Mon YYYY. Sign In

The new ones now still have the same headline, but here are the "new style" (e.g. halfway-useful) teaser bodies from three messages.  Shock horror!  We can now figure out whether the release is of interest from our feedreaders!

  • Senator the Hon Kim Carr. This is the new agenda for manufacturing the forward-looking agenda the innovation agenda. That’s what the new portfolio of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research is about.

  • Senator the Hon Kim Carr. It is a major exporter of mining technology and services. Mining industry progress is driven by new technology, but at the same time technological progress is driven by mining industry demand.

  • Senator the Hon Kim Carr. Winner Marand Precision Engineering. Winner Marand Precision Engineering.

Not perfect yet, improvements in the heading would be nice… but it’s a big improvement.

Pity that IISR didn’t get back to me with a "thanks for your feedback" note.  I guess courtesy is a bit much to ask.
