PLoS Cats

Posted by Dave Bath on 2008-11-27

You won’t get a LoLcat from me (unless the cat concerned wears the blue and white hoops and lives at Kardina Park, I detest the animals), but if you are into cats, and happen to remain sane and able to read something complex about how cats move, choosing between efficiency and sneakiness, then "Whole Body Mechanics of Stealthy Walking in Cats" (PLoS ONE 3(11): e3808. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0003808) might be of interest.

But still, I’d love to see the photo to go with the following text:

The remaining three of the cats were partially shaved and marked with contrasting, non-toxic paint to aid in kinematic analysis.  These cats were videorecorded at 125 Hz using a Photron Fastcam Super10K (San Diego, CA) digital video camera.

Actually, the video of them shaving the cats would be even more fun
