If climate skeptics were skydivers

Posted by Dave Bath on 2009-10-28

If climate skeptics (and neo-skeptics that advocate polluter protection or no significant action, in other words, those rejecting the precautionary principle) were skydivers… what would they do?

Man, those JibJab guys crack me up.

  2. Which version of the precautionary principle? I propose the application of the precautionary principle means we should set up an alien defence system. After all, no one can prove aliens don’t exist or that any aliens that may exist aren’t highly developed and hostile. Furthermore, alien invasion could have extreme negative effects and irreversible consequences for humanity. Anyone who disagrees with me is being an unreasonable alien invasion denialist.

    Michael…
I’d use the precautionary principle along the same sort of lines as we do in toxicology. Actually, AS4360 would cover it easily.

There’s a lot more consensus among scientists about the dangers of climate change than there was about tobacco only a few years ago. Or to put it another way… there’s more openness among the scientific community to cryptozoologists claims about the abominable snowman than there is to the statements of the “nothing to worry about” climate skeptics.

I reckon all skeptics who reckon either {(a) there is no climate problem from rising CO2 or (b) there is a technical fix that avoids any problems of high CO2} should define what CO2 level they think is fine, and then hermetically seal the homes and offices of themselves and their loved ones so they are exposed to that ppCO2 24X365…. and wait a year, refusing any treatment relating to pH, bicarbonate or bone density changes.

if you knew what you were talking about it would be funny

as a skeptic who like many other skeptics advocates reducing pollution and toxins you fail to miss the point. CO2 is not a pollutant, doesnt cause warming and ETS is simply a tax on hot air – wed rather the money put into that be spent on real solutions like clean technologies, reafforestation etc where there will be real results
